Where to Bring Your Kids: Denver
If you haven’t visited Colorado yet, you definitely should. Boasting 300+ days of sunshine, much more moderate temperatures than normally assumed, and a vibrant microbrewery/marijuana scene, Colorado is definitely an adult’s playground. So for those of you that have to drag those kids along for the ride, is there anything for them to do? Plenty. There is so much to do in Colorado, regardless of your age. Us here at Double Double have devised a list of some awesome family-friendly activities in Denver, in case you want to spend a day in the city!
Denver Botanic Gardens
Even if you didn’t have any kids to bring along for the ride, Denver Botanic Gardens is still a must see. The scenery is stunning, you can get lost wandering around in the beauty! The Botanic Gardens also hosts some pretty awesome events year round, which can be accessed by checking their schedule on their website.
See the Rockies Play
The Rockies are Denver's Major League Baseball franchise. They are currently members of the National League West Division, and their home venue is Coors Field. Because of the Rockies’ standing right now, games are pretty cheap: even for a family. Watching some major league baseball is always a great night, so go check out Coors Field! It’s worth it, even if you aren't a Rockies fan.
Visit the Aquarium
This entertainment and dining complex features a public aquarium boasting more than a million gallons of underwater exhibits that highlight fascinating ecosystems around the world. What kids don’t like the aquarium? Downtown Aquarium houses over 500 species of animals, the interactive Stingray Reef touch tank, Aquarium Restaurant, Dive Lounge, the Nautilus Ballroom and amusements for the entire family.
Since 1890, Elitch Gardens in Denver has been America's only downtown theme and water park. Regardless of this statement, the park is never crowded, and is financially feasible even for a frugal family.The park is open May through October with 53 rides, live shows, thrilling roller coasters, an entire water park, and Fright Fest in October. If you have nothing to do one afternoon, Elitch Gardens is only a quick stop away!
Visit the Zoo
Although any zoo can be considered “just a zoo”, Denver Zoo is a leader in animal care and visitor experience.. The zoo provides extraordinary experiences every day for their animals and visitors, and holds some magnificent and rare species to be viewed and admired. This event is the most pricey out of the listed options, but is definitely worth the experience!
